My eighteenth birthday

Turning eighteen is one of the best, life changing things for a teenager. It is the beginning of adulthood, independence and more opportunities. Once you are eighteen you can legally buy alcohol, buy fireworks, bungee jump and learn to fly a plane in the UK... Not that I'm planning on flying a plane any time soon.

I turned eighteen on the 17th August; I was one of the youngest in my year at school. As all my friends turned eighteen earlier in the year and started going out to bars and clubs, I hated it and had to miss out on a few nights out due to only being seventeen. However, the wait is now over and it feels great to be asked for ID and know I can successfully get in to clubs.

On the day of my birthday me and my family went out for dinner to a pub called the 'Quarry man'. The food was lovely and I enjoyed catching up with family members as I demolished a hunters chicken. For the rest of the day we had an open house, allowing friends and family to come visit me and enjoy a slice of cake and a glass of Pimms. In the late evening I went out for my first legal drink with some friend, enjoying my first night of adulthood.

The birthday celebrations didn't stop there, as I spent a few days in Dublin with my best friend. I had such a good time visiting new places and spending time with my best mate, we had such a laugh. When we arrived back at Manchester airport the weekend was fast moving in and on the Friday night I was off out on my first night in Manchester. I didn't know what to expect as I have had many nights out in bars but never a proper club. A big group of us headed out to Deansgate Locks where we ventured in to Tiki bar  'LolaLo'. We had a fab night.

I woke up on Saturday morning feeling excited, nervous and little bit hungover. This was because on Saturday night I was hosting my 18th birthday party! The day started early with me, my mum and Tez heading down to the venue to set up the room: putting countless packets of crisps in bowls and banners on the walls. We then had to rush home as I had asked my mums friend Claire to come round and do my hair and makeup. She did a fabulous job and must have put two packets of hair grips in my hair to make sure it stayed up right, they were a pain to take out at 2 am when all I wanted to do was jump in to bed. The night was a success and I enjoyed every minute of it.

So this is a brief summary of my birthday celebrations. I've had the best week spent with all of my favourite people who have made it so special for me!
