Taken is a 2008 French action thriller film directed by Pierre Morel, written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, and starring Liam Neeson (wiki), it is the first of three in the Taken film series. Although I have never sat down and watched the introductory two Taken films I was briefly aware of the plot and had heard various reviews stating that it was a gripping story adapting aspects of both thriller and action genre.
Although it is rated a 12A, I feel Taken 3 could appeal to a diverse audience as it proves to contain assorted qualities varying from comedy to sentimental father daughter relationships and a tense fleeting car chase. The plot follows Bryan Mills investigate into the death of his ex wife Lenore as he is startled to find her lifeless in his apartment. Furthermore, Mills is the prime suspect of the police and has to juggle his own case alongside protecting his daughter Kim and remaining anonymous to the police investigation. An immense plot twist occurs at the end of the film causing both shock and respect to whoever came up with the dramatic climax.
Taken 3 has inevitably appealed to me more than the previous film I watched 'Woman In Black: Angel of Death' this admittedly is biasedly due to my criticism towards the horror genre. It left me sat in suspense at the end of my chair and has even created various enigmas to what will happen next in the climatic following narrative.
I would unquestionably recommend this film to anyone who has an interest in the compelling action genre as in my opinion it is guaranteed to seize a huge audience appeal.
